I've Moved!

So guys, I've moved! I wanted to make a fresh start and wanted to have a blog with more consistent and higher quality content. So I made a new blog that hopefully you'll enjoy.

Trip to Italy: Florence

I have to say, Florence was absolutely beautiful. The surrounding architecture was such a dream. Everywhere I looked, inside or out, was a piece of art or displayed other beautiful art (including the food, am I right?). The amount of detail that goes into these works is incredible and probably required a world's worth of patience.

Florence in the day is stunning, but at night, the whole city turns magical. The lights, shimmering water, illuminated figures, and live music make for a fine way to enjoy the night life. Pictures cannot fully capture how it felt, but I think you can imagine how it could be from these snapshots.

Stripy and Sporty

Top: Forever 21 | Similar 1234 Joggers: Forever 21 | Similar 1 2 Shoes: Glamorous | ASOS | Similar 1, 23, & 4

I haven't been able to update the blog as much as I had hoped for, but there's good reason. We've been getting our home prepared for sale, and that has sure been quite the time (and energy) consumer. But that's not the hardest part about selling the house. The hardest thing to deal with has been the process of saying goodbye to my childhood home. I decided to shoot this post in my own home as sort of a way to say goodbye. Even though it's practically empty (I have the urge to sit in couches that are no longer there), I wanted to shoot this at home.

Now that the sappy part is over with, onto the clothing! This is one of my favorite pairings because of the stripes on the sweater crop top parallel the stripes on these joggers quite nicely. The joggers are insanely comfortable and the fabric is an incredibly light and breathable athletic-feeling material, making them easily my favorite pair of pants.

I decided to throw in my new favorite (and a little wild) pair of shoes. These tie-up ballet flats literally look like ballet shoes (well, at least to my untrained, non-dancer eyes). There has been a huge trend of tie-up shoes lately, but I think these put a fun spin on the trend because they use wide ribbons instead of thinner strings of material. I feel like they simultaneously clash with and balance out this outfit. Gotta add some fun to an outfit, right?

I know all of these particular pieces are no longer available, but I've linked similar pieces for each above if you're curious!

WRAL Freedom Balloon Fest

Over the Memorial Day weekend, the fam and I went to the WRAL Freedom Balloon Fest. What a sight! When we first arrived, not one hot air balloon was to be seen. But soon enough, people started setting up and blowing up their balloons! Because of the weather, only two hot air balloons took to the air while the rest stayed tethered to the ground.

So how do these massive balloons get off the ground? Basically people hold the opening wide while a fan blows air into the balloon. Once the balloon is filled with enough air, the operator blows fire into the balloon, creating hot air, which causes the balloon to move upright and float. Hot air is less dense than cold air, so it rises. Neat, right?

Standing amongst the lit hot air balloons at night was like being surrounded by huge lanterns. I felt like I had shrunk to miniature size staring up at these massive balloons. They all light up simultaneously and then alternated, causing a blinking illusion. The epic Harry Potter and Star Wars music in the background made it that much more awesome.

Hope you had a great Memorial Day Weekend!
